Jordan Ayew scores for Leicester City

Ghana international Jordan Ayew climbed off the bench to inspire Leicester City to victory over Southampton in the English Premier League on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Ayew delivered an outstanding performance on his return to club football following the Black Stars‘ disappointing results in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The former Crystal Palace striker netted an injury-time goal as the Foxes staged an incredible comeback to come from two goals down and beat Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo gave the Saints a two-goal lead before the halftime break in the crucial encounter.

Putting on a stellar performance, the visitors staged a strong comeback to beat Southampton on their own turf and snatch maximum points in the game.

Leicester City pulled one back in the 64th minute through Facundo Buonanotte after he was set up by Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

In the 74th minute, experienced forward Jamie Vardy converted from the spot to level the score for the visitors.

However, Ayew, who joined Leicester in the summer, made his presence felt in the crucial game by scoring an injury-time goal to secure victory for his team after he was set up by Harry Winks.

Both Ayew and Issahaku made substitute appearances for Leicester City after returning from the international break.

Despite the Black Stars‘ struggles, the Ghanaian duo put up an impressive performance to inspire their club to victory.

The 33-year-old Ghanaian forward has now scored one goal for Leicester City in seven Premier League games.
