Ghana captain Jordan Ayew made an instant impact at his club Leicester City, scoring the decisive goal in their 2-1 pre-season win against Belgian outfit OH Leuven on Saturday.
The game, held at the Leicester City training ground, was part of the Foxes’ preparations ahead of the upcoming English Championship season following their relegation from the Premier League.
Leicester took the lead early on when Takahero Akimoto inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in the first minute.
Leuven, however, found an equaliser through Jovan Mijatovic shortly after the break.
With the match looking destined for a draw, Ayew stepped up in the latter stages to seal the win for Leicester.
He expertly connected with a corner kick, sweeping home a well-taken finish to mark his first goal in Foxes colours.
Ayew, who recently joined Leicester from Crystal Palace, is expected to play a key role as the club aims to bounce back to the English top flight.
His goal will serve as a confidence booster and a signal of intent for the season ahead.
Leicester will continue their pre-season campaign with more friendlies to build fitness and cohesion.
