Black Stars defender, Jonas Adjetey

Ghanaian defender Jonas Adjetey has joined VfL Wolfsburg after some days in Ghana during the Christmas holidays.

The deal, which is worth around 10 million Euros, sees the 22-year-old centre-back make the switch from Switzerland to Germany following weeks of strong interest from clubs across Europe.

Adjetey signed a 4-year-deal with the German club after undergoing his medical examinations on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Speaking to the club website after the signing of the 22-year-old, VfL Wolfsburg Sporting Director expressed confidence in the Black Stars defender’s ability to excel with the team.

“At Basel, he proved himself both in the league and internationally over the past three and a half years,” he said.

“We have high hopes for Jonas [Adjetey] and are convinced that he will strengthen our team immediately,” Schwegler added.

While in Ghana, Jonas Adjetey worked with the CEO of Train Like A Pro GH, Totti Laryea on daily basis, engaging in various training routines.

Totti Laryea who is highly rated in the fitness space deployed various important exercise regimes to keep the football in football during the holidays.

Adjetey now becomes the latest Ghanaian to feature in the Bundesliga, with expectations high as he prepares to begin a new chapter in his career.
