In a heartfelt address to residents of Effia Kwesimintsim in the Western Region, NDC national chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia emphasised the urgent need for reform in public service recruitment protocols.

Speaking as part of his nationwide ‘thank-you’ tour, Nketia called for the decentralisation of the process to ensure equitable access for qualified citizens across the country.

Johnson Aseidu Nketia highlighted that the current system, which he described as overly centralised in Accra, marginalises deserving candidates in regional and constituency branches.

“It is not just for one person to monopolise all the protocols in the services while others, who are equally capable and deserving, are left behind,” he stated. His remarks underscored a broader critique of systemic inequities, advocating for a redistribution of opportunities to foster inclusivity and merit-based appointments.

During the address, Johnson Aseidu Nketia reiterated that the recruitment process must serve its “proper purpose” by reaching grassroots levels.

“The protocol should not be confined to a few in the capital. It must extend to every region, constituency, and branch, ensuring fairness for all citizens,” he pledged.

The comments come as part of Aseidu Nketia’s nationwide engagement initiative, which aims to interact with communities and address their concerns directly.

The Effia Kwesimintsim stop, located in the Western Region, symbolised his commitment to amplifying voices often excluded from national dialogues.

Attendees praised the event as a rare opportunity to express aspirations for equitable governance.

Johnson Aseidu Nketia closed his remarks by urging citizens to remain proactive.

“We must collectively demand that our systems reflect the values of fairness and merit,” he said, signalling a renewed hope for structural transformation in governance.
