A teenage girl who allegedly led police on a high-speed chase casually told cops ‘It was only a little one,’ after being slapped with cuffs.

The 17, along with two males, both 14, and a 12-year-old girl allegedly travelled in a stolen Mazda CX-3 from Victoria, and on Thursday led cops on a wild pursuit from Edmondson Park in Sydney‘s southwest to Bondi Junction in the eastern suburbs.

Four youths were eventually arrested about 10.30am by two rookie constables on their first day on the job, after the dumping the vehicle and Bondi Junction Railway Station.

‘It wasn’t even that bad of a chase,’ the alleged driver told awaiting cameramen from Nine News.

‘It was only a little one.’

One of the older boys allegedly in the vehicle was then asked whether he thought the chase had been ‘smart’.

    ‘Yep,’ he replied.

The alleged chase began after police tried to stop a Mazda CX-3 on the Hume Highway at Edmondson Park.

When the vehicle failed to stop, officers chased it along the M5 Motorway towards the M7 at Prospect but it was called off due to safety concerns.

Polair began tracking the vehicle from the air as it sped through Milperra, where the pursuit started again.

But it was ended once again when items were thrown from the moving car at a pursuing police vehicle.

Despite efforts to evade capture, the stolen Mazda was tracked eastbound along the M5, weaving through the suburbs of Alexandria, Zetland, Centennial Park, Randwick, and eventually Bondi Junction.

At approximately 11.20am, the car was abandoned inside the Bondi Junction Railway Station bus interchange.

All four occupants fled on foot into the train station.

Plain clothes officers spotted the group, sparking a foot chase through the station.

The four were arrested shortly after – two boys aged 14, and two girls aged 12 and 17.

The group were taken to Surry Hills Police Station and were assisting officers with inquiries, police said.

The chase shocked Bondi residents as it tore through the suburb.

They described seeing a masked driver running red lights and weaving on the wrong side of the road.

‘The car ran a red light, just missing a car,’ one person said.

‘The male driver had his face covered up and there were a few in the car.’

‘The car went through a red light past me on the wrong side of the road and then about 10 undercover cars and police cars were chasing them,’ another said.
