England-born Ghanaian defender Jarell Quansah was on target as Bayer Leverkusen came from behind to draw 1-1 with Hamburger SV in their final Bundesliga match of the season on Saturday at the BayArena.

The 23-year-old centre-back, who joined Leverkusen from Liverpool FC last summer, played the full 90 minutes and delivered a decisive moment to rescue his side from defeat.

After a goalless first half, Hamburger SV took the lead in the 61st minute through Fábio Vieira, putting the visitors in control of the encounter.

However, Quansah stepped up in the 78th minute with a well-taken finish to restore parity and secure a valuable point for the home side.

His equalizer ensured Leverkusen ended the season on a competitive note, finishing sixth in the Bundesliga standings with 59 points and securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Europa League.

Quansah enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in Germany, featuring in 44 matches across all competitions and scoring four goals, establishing himself as a key figure in the squad.
