Kennedy heir Jack Schlossberg is back on the campaign trail with a touching nod to his sister, Tatiana, just two weeks after her death.

Schlossberg announced his bid for New York’s 12th congressional district in November, 11 days before his older sister penned a heartbreaking letter in the New Yorker disclosing her terminal cancer diagnosis.

Tatiana died of acute myeloid leukemia on December 30, and her funeral was held on January 5 in New York City.

In the letter on her life, family and illness, Tatiana reflected on the nurses and doctors who worked hard to make her intensive treatment bearable since being diagnosed after her daughter’s birth in May.

‘I have never encountered a group of people who are more competent, more full of grace and empathy, more willing to serve others than nurses,’ she said. ‘Nurses should take over.’

To mark his return to the campaign, Jack Schlossberg, 32, attended a rally with the New York State Nurses Association after 15,000 of them went on strike on January 12.

‘Nurses should rule the world. Nothing is more important than supporting our nurses,’ he addressed the crowd at the rally on Monday, echoing his late sister’s sentiments.

Medical professionals across New York City’s top hospitals walked out in demand of higher wages, minimum staff ratios, benefits and more security.

‘Nurses deserve more than our thanks — they deserve a fair contract, safe working conditions and healthcare benefits,’ Schlossberg wrote in an Instagram post on the event.

‘Unions are the backbone of the Democratic Party.

‘I’ll never forget that. I’m running for Congress to make sure nurses and working people across our city and our country get a fair shot.’

Before his sister’s death, Schlossberg posted consistently on social media to inform voters.

He frequently posted from the streets of New York City, volunteering, attending events and meeting New Yorkers.

The controversial Kennedy seemed to take a hiatus from his door-to-door campaign strategy in the wake of his sister’s death.

He even paused his constant social media posting, which he has said is a key component to his campaign, for a week.

On the day of Tatiana’s funeral at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, he posted a series of quotes accompanied by pictures of the two of them from their younger years.

Perhaps the most poignant was from Tatiana herself.

‘It’s up to us to create a country that takes its obligations to the planet, to each other and to the people who will be born into a world that looks different from ours has for the last 10,000 years or so,’ it read.

‘… Essentially, what I’m describing is hard work with the possibility of limited success for the rest of your life.’

JFK’s grandson will be on the ballot in the June primaries to replace Congressman Jerrold Nadler, who is retiring.

When Schlossberg announced his campaign for New York’s 12th congressional district, he claimed the US was amidst a ‘crisis at every level’.

‘It’s a constitutional crisis with one dangerous man in control of all three branches of government,’ he said.

‘He’s stripping citizens of their civil rights and silencing his critics.’

He vowed to meet New Yorkers face to face over the course of his campaign and ‘execute on [their] behalf’.

‘Over the next eight months, during the course of this campaign, I hope to meet as many of you as I can. If you see me on the street, please say hello. If I knock on your door, I hope we can have a conversation,’ he continued. ‘Because politics should be personal.’
