Jachie United FC has expressed dissatisfaction with the Ashanti Region Football Association’s (ARFA) decision to deduct points following Mansoman FC’s withdrawal from the league.

The ARFA informed clubs of its decision to deduct points already accumulated instead of awarding points after Mansoman FC dropped out of the 2024/2025 Division 2 Zone 6 League campaign.

In a media release signed by club president Nana Wrieko-Ampim Opoku, Jachie United criticised the ARFA for failing to officially announce Mansoman FC’s withdrawal before implementing the points deduction.

The club demanded an explanation regarding the decision-making process.

“It came as a great surprise to us that before this decision by the RFA, there was no official communiqué notifying the general public of Mansoman FC’s withdrawal from the league. The only official communiqué from your office was the points deduction reflected in the final standings of the Zone 6 league table in the ongoing Ashanti RFA Division Two league. Who made this decision?” the statement read.

The club further argued that deducting accumulated points is improper, citing past cases where the Ghana Football Association (GFA) awarded clubs three points when opponents withdrew from competitions.

“We would like to draw your attention to similar cases involving Phar Rangers FC vs. GFA in the Division One League and Nsuatreman FC vs. GFA in the ongoing Ghana Premier League 2024-2025 season. Both cases mirror the exact situation Mansoman FC finds itself in with the Ashanti RFA in the Division Two 2024-2025 season.

“In the GFA’s ruling, it awarded three (3) points and three (3) goals to all opposing clubs and did not deduct points from other teams’ accumulated totals. This is the known procedure and modus operandi of the GFA in such matters. As a subsidiary of the GFA, the RFA should not implement rules that contradict those of the GFA.”

The club urged the ARFA to uphold fair play and transparency as required by football regulations and to reconsider its decision.

“In light of this, we respectfully urge your esteemed office to review this case critically, assess it thoroughly, and make a decision that upholds the spirit of football, transparency, and fairness. We firmly believe that no club should be made to suffer vicariously for the actions or inactions of another club without legitimate justification.”

Mansoman FC withdrew from the league in December after playing three games and amassing three points.

Jachie United FC, which has yet to play Mansoman FC, currently sits second in the Division 2 Zone 6 League table with 34 points, trailing Pro Sports Academy by a single point after 14 games.

With Mansoman FC’s withdrawal, Zone 6 is now the only division with eight teams.
