Executive Committee Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Fredrick Acheampong, also known as Fred Achie, has stated that his outfit is allowed to make sole decisions concerning the Black Stars.

According to him, if the GFA make a decision concerning the national team, the public can share their views on it, but cannot coerce them to reverse the decision.

The GFA Exco member indicated that they are not required to seek the opinions of the public or other stakeholders, except those within the GFA, and that no individual can influence them.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) do not need to consult anyone to make a decision on the Black Stars. We are the administrators of the various national teams, and we don’t need to consult anyone in making decisions,” Acheampong told Asempa FM.

The criticism comes on the back of the GFA’s decision to retain Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars, alongside John Paintsil, who also retained his role as assistant coach.

Their appointment of Winfried Anton Schafer, a German coach who won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Cameroon in 2002, as Technical Advisor also generated controversy.
