Renowned Ghanaian gospel singer Mama Esther has stated that, unlike the usual practice where the man covers most of the wedding expenses, she sees nothing wrong with the woman’s family also taking up the costs.

In an excerpt from a viral interview, Mama Esther said she would offer financial assistance to her son-in-law if he is not financially stable.

“I don’t understand why some people have made this a big deal if a woman financially supports a man during their wedding ceremony.

“Not everyone is from a rich family, so if you come from a wealthy family, it is not a bad idea if I am to support any of my daughters’ weddings,” she said.

Mama Esther also mentioned that she wouldn’t hesitate to let her son-in-law live in her house after marrying her daughter.

“You won’t find people who would allow their son-in-law to stay with them. Someone will also take my son away. Don’t you realize that your son-in-law is more of a son to you than your own son?

“If my son-in-law is to provide money for food, do you think he would give it to her mother? The money would go to my daughter, and I would benefit from it because, if they prepare food, I’ll get some too,” she added.
