Heavyweight phenom Moses Itauma electrified the 13,000-strong crowd at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena, crushing previously unstopped American Jermaine Franklin Jr. in five blistering rounds.
It was apparent from the get-go that Itauma was on a mission, firing lightning-fast shots with devastating intent. Itauma landed a blistering temple shot with Franklin against the ropes, dropping him with less than 30 seconds to go in the third. Franklin did well to survive the round.
After a decent fourth round in which Franklin made some attempts to counter Itauma, it all came to a sudden end. A blistering left uppercut left Franklin stunned and momentarily frozen. Itauma followed with a right hook that deposited Franklin face-first on the canvas. Referee Steve Gray immediately waved it off. The time was 1:33 of the fifth.
Itauma improves to 14-0, 12 KOs. Franklin is stopped for the first time, falling to 24-3, 15 KOs.
