20-year-old heavyweight prodigy, Moses Itauma blew out 37-year-old veteran Dillian Whyte in explosive, quick fashion. After keeping his distance initially and moving around the ring, Itauma decided to go on the attack.

When he did, it didn’t take long. A left high on the temple of a crouching Whyte, was the first damaging blow landed. Whyte tried to tap the back of his own head and signal to referee Mikael Hook that the blow was illegal. Hook didn’t take the bait, allowing the action to continue.

Itauma didn’t go crazy. He feinted, pulled down the guard of Whyte, and threw vicious, hooks and crosses to body and head.

Finally, a right hand sent Whyte crashing down, partially tangled in the ropes. Whyte beat the count but was in no condition to continue, Hook waving it off at 1:59 of the opening round.

Itauma rises to 13-0, 11 KOs, picking up the Commonwealth strap to go along with the WBO Inter-Continental and WBA International belts. The shop worn Whyte falls 31-4, 21 KOs.

After the fight, Itauma admitted that both Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel deserve their shots at Oleksander Usyk first, but if the shot was offered to him, he would take it in a heartbeat. Itauma also admitted that he wants to be in the ring again before the end of the year.
