Media personality and entertainment pundit, MC Portfolio

Entertainment personality MC Portfolio has come to the defense of media figure and philanthropist Hammer Nti following allegations that he is exploiting legendary Ghanaian musician Okomfour Kwadee.

These allegations surfaced after Kwadee’s mother, in a radio interview, claimed that Hammer was benefiting from the musician’s current condition.

However, speaking on DJ Slim’s Streets Are Watching podcast, MC Portfolio dismissed the accusations as “ridiculous” and praised Hammer for his unwavering support of industry veterans.

Hammer Nti, widely known for his philanthropic efforts in the entertainment industry, has been a consistent supporter of Kwadee and other veteran artists, providing financial assistance and organizing interviews to keep their legacies alive.

“Whether or not there are flaws in how Hammer Nti has handled Okomfour Kwadee, let’s still give him credit because it’s not easy. He has done a lot for the musician.

“I think it is very funny and ridiculous for anyone to believe that Hammer Nti is benefiting from Okomfour Kwadee,” MC Portfolio said.

The discussion also touched on the broader issue of inadequate support for veteran artists in Ghana’s music industry.

MC Portfolio commended Hammer for stepping in where institutions like MUSIGA (Musicians Union of Ghana) have failed, highlighting his contributions to supporting veteran musicians by compensating them for interviews and treating them with respect.

“Check Hammer Nti’s record. He has always had a soft spot for pioneers in the industry. He even pays veterans to interview them. He gives them first-class treatment.

“Everything that should have been covered in MUSIGA’s welfare policy, he is doing for them. And not because he gains revenue from these interviews because, truthfully, those of us in the social media generation hardly follow such content unless one of them dies,” he noted.

MC Portfolio also revealed some of the difficulties Hammer faces in his efforts to support Kwadee, noting that the musician sometimes reacts disrespectfully or rudely due to his mental health struggles.

“Hammer just laughs it off because he understands Kwadee’s situation,” he said. “It’s not easy, but Hammer continues to support him regardless.”
