The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has kicked against the publication of the Mike Oquaye report, which probed the party’s poor performance in the 2024 general election.

According to him, making the report public would not benefit the NPP in any way.

In a post shared on X on Saturday, April 26, 2025, Frimpong Kodua asserted that publishing the report would only harm the party.

“It would be politically suicidal to publish the findings of the Mike Oquaye report,” Frimpong Kodua is quoted as saying.

An 11-member committee, led by former Speaker of Parliament Prof. Mike Oquaye, was formed by the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to investigate the party’s 2024 election defeat.

The committee was given three months to complete its work and submitted its report to the NPP’s National Council in early April 2025.

Its mandate included examining the party’s internal elections and campaign strategy, identifying the causes of the electoral loss, and proposing remedies.

Following a fiercely contested election, former President John Dramani Mahama made a stunning comeback to government, emerging victorious in the 2024 presidential election.

On December 9, the Electoral Commission (EC) declared that Mahama had secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total votes cast.

His main NPP opponent, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, garnered 4,657,304 votes, or 41.61% of the total votes.

Mahama’s victory also delivered a significant triumph to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which secured a majority in Parliament.

As he prepares to return to the presidency, Mahama’s mandate is strengthened by the NDC’s control of over 180 parliamentary seats, including several key constituencies previously held by the NPP.
