Ghanaian rapper and Students Representative Council (SRC) President of the University of Ghana, Maradona Yeboah Adjei, popularly known as Guru, has finally cleared the air about a viral video which left tongues wagging on social media.

The video, which went viral in February 2025, showed Guru and some other students drinking and playing games in what appeared to be the SRC office.

The video left many on social media critiquing him over what they termed as irresponsible conduct.

However, in an interview with Hitz FM on April 14, 2025, Guru stated that the office in that video was not the official SRC office as claimed.

He explained that he and his team were simply celebrating after the stress of organising an event on campus.

“It wasn’t even my office. It happened after the Akwaaba Night at Legon. We faced some challenges and were still able to sort it out. And it came with a whole lot of joy for the whole team. So, we were celebrating,” he said.

He added that he was disappointed with the false reportage and the backlash over the video.

“It wasn’t even my office. People just saw the video and tried to write contradictory things. That was wrong,” he said.
