Ghanaian singer Wiyaala has opened up about her long and determined journey through multiple reality shows before eventually emerging as a winner.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on December 9, 2025, the award-winning musician revealed that it took her four years of auditions, setbacks, and hard lessons before finally securing victory.

“I went to the stars of the future twice. First, it was a no, and the second time, they said I had something, but I should go and come back,” she recalled.

Wiyaala stated that her third attempt coincided with her admission into Takoradi Polytechnic, placing her closer to the competition venue. That year, she advanced to the final four but still did not win.

“Third year, I was back again but then, I had admission to Takoradi Polytechnic, so I was closer. I made it to the final 4, but I didn’t win,” she said.

The new generation wants everything ‘quick’, take your time – Wiyaala advises

She said her breakthrough came in the fourth year when she auditioned for Vodafone Icons, where her persistence finally paid off.

“The fourth year, I went to Vodafone Icon. It took me four years to finally win a reality show,” she shared.

Wiyaala explained that the criticisms and reactions from the public during her earlier attempts helped shape her approach and performance.

“Based on my other years’ experiences, the comments people made online, I took note of everything. When I returned the fourth year, I went stronger,” she noted.

Encouraging others, she emphasized the importance of perseverance in pursuing one’s goals.

“If you really want to do something, you need to keep pushing. Our experiences teach us to keep pushing. Every work of life takes years, and you have to grow,” she added.
