Ghanaian rapper King Paluta has openly admitted receiving payment from former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia during the 2024 election campaign season.

This comes following criticism over his recent comments about some social media influencers being paid to rally behind some music artistes.

The controversy began when King Paluta, in a Twitter (now X) post on April 2, 2025, expressed disappointment after noticing a previously supportive fan suddenly withdraw endorsement for his Artiste of the Year (AOTY) bid.

Some quickly reminded him of his own political affiliations, with one user responding, “You took big money from politicians during elections and now complain about influencers taking money? This is how it works—you pay, you get served.”

In a surprising admission, Paluta confirmed receiving funds from Bawumia’s camp, replying, “The money I took from Baweezy deɛ, e really pain boys.”

The rapper had been frequently spotted at NPP campaign rallies alongside Dr Bawumia during the 2024 elections, fueling speculation about financial incentives behind his appearances.

The revelation comes as Paluta remains a top contender for Artiste of the Year at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards, with his chart-topping hits like “Aseda” and “Makoma” dominating airwaves throughout 2024.
