Renowned Hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kese

Renowned Hiplife rapper, Kwaw Kese, has shed light on the events that led to his viral post accusing the Ghana Police Service of public humiliation, following an incident in June 2025 where he was allegedly stopped and searched.

In an interview with Hitz FM on October 8, 2025, Kwaw Kese recounted how he was subjected to a search that lasted nearly 30 minutes on the Spintex Road on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

According to him, the officers stopped his vehicle under the pretext of a “routine road check.”

“They initially greeted me jovially and informed me they were having a routine search. I said ‘no problem.’

“They started searching, they searched every part of my car, my bags, even me. For over 30 minutes! Meanwhile other cars were passing by and we’re not being stopped,” he recounted.

Kwaw Kese said the experience felt discriminatory.

“There are good police officers. But the bad ones are tarnishing the image. I was frustrated. It felt like hatred. Like I was being singled out. So, I had to come online to complain about it,” he said.

He added that although there are good police officers, incidents like this tarnish the reputation of the service.

“These are some of the police officers putting a bad name on the service. I’ve also met other police officers who were good and nice to me,” he said.
