American live streamer and YouTuber Darren Watkins Jr, known popularly as IShowSpeed, has embarked on a 28 days African tour dubbed “Speed Does Africa” to experience African culture and it has left some Americans questioning their misconceptions about the continent.
Through his daily YouTube and Twitch live streams so far across countries such as South Africa, Zimbabwe and Eswatini, the streamer has shown cities, modern infrastructure, well-constructed and accessible highways that have left some viewers stunned.
Several Americans viewers have taken to social media to describe how little they know about the continent.
Some Americans have openly confessed that they believed Africa was made of mud houses, people living in trees, forests and villages, however they have now been exposed to the reality.
“So, I am kind of confused like IShowSpeed is in Africa and like how? They have Wi-Fi, I never knew that. And they like have cars, houses and they are not living in mud. That’s crazy, I never knew that,” a gentleman confessed on TikTok.
“Seeing the IshowSpeed Africa tour makes me wanna go to Africa,” another added.
“The Speed Does Africa” tour started on December 29, 2025, to tour 20 African countries.
He has so far been to three countries and has 17 more to go.
