It is customary in Japan that the winner of last night’s world title bout makes a press conference on the next day. Naoya and Takuma Inoue, promoter Hideyuki Ohashi, plus their father and trainer Shingo Inoue were in attendance at Ohashi gym on Sunday.
Ohashi said, “Nothing is decided yet for our blueprint. Our team will deeply consider various options.” But our press people asked about some possibilities, as follows:
(1) Naoya may face Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (23-0, 16 KOs), 26, in Japan next year—as reported by The Ring Magazine.
(2) Monster Inoue may fight at a bigger arena than Tokyo Dome since there came more than sixty thousand applications asking for tickets at the Dome the capacity of which is just 55,000 seats. If so, it may be National Stadium (used for the last Olympic Games in 2021) with more than 80,000 seats.
Ohashi also said, “Naoya may take a long rest to fully recover from his strenuous training for months until the end of this year. If so, his Nakatani bout might be the first and last of his campaign this year.
