Black Stars midfielder Majeed Ashimeru, who was reported by the Ghana Football Association to be injured, provided an assist in Anderlecht’s 3-0 win over Cercle Brugge on Sunday, March 17, 2025.

Ashimeru came off the bench to set up Cesar Huerta for the team’s final goal in added time, sealing an emphatic victory in the Belgian Pro League.

The Ghanaian midfielder played 16 minutes, completed 13 out of 14 passes, and successfully executed all his attempted dribbles.

Meanwhile, Ashimeru was listed among the injured players omitted from Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

According to Sporty FM, the player requested some time to fully recover from a recent injury, which led to his exclusion from the national team selection.

For those asking why GFA listed Majeed Ashimeru among the list of injured players, further details were given.

“Rebuilding from injury – Needs time to fully recover” was the official explanation, which we shortened to convalescing. https://t.co/MOTVDjCx7z pic.twitter.com/v2ln4JB6Qp
