The frustration of Atlanta Falcons fans following Sunday’s overtime was crystalized by injured starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr.’s solemn reaction on the sidelines.

Penix suffered a late rib injury when he was sacked by Ravens linebacker Tavius Robinson late in the fourth quarter of Atlanta’s 30-23 overtime loss to Baltimore (4-1) on Sunday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

With Penix down, Falcons backup and former Miami Dolphins starter Tua Tagovailoa was brought on in the extra frame, where he ultimately tossed the game-sealing interception to Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton.

The pass, which was intended for Drake London, was described online as ‘one of the worst interceptions ever’ – something that was fairly evident by Penix’s reaction on the sideline.

The former Washington Huskies star was seen talking to trainers with a towel over his head until Tagovailoa’s interception, after which he went from looking stoic to hanging his head in disappointment.

Penix had tossed for 240 yards and a touchdown prior to overtime.

Tagovailoa’s interception sealed the Ravens’ victory on Sunday night in Atlanta

Baltimore won the game thanks in large part to backup quarterback Tyler Huntley, who led the Ravens to a game-tying touchdown and 2-point conversion in the last minute of regulation before his go-ahead one-yard touchdown run in overtime.

Jessie Bates III returned a recovered fumble 36 yards for a score for Atlanta in the first quarter.

Bijan Robinson ran for 86 yards, but Penix’s 5-yard scoring pass to Kyle Pitts was Atlanta’s only offensive touchdown as they fell to 2-3 on the season.

With Baltimore trailing 23-15, Huntley threw a 7-yard scoring pass to Devontez Walker with 40 seconds remaining in regulation and Henry took the direct snap and ran left for the tying conversion. Huntley targeted Falcons backup cornerback Mike Ford for the touchdown pass one play after Mike Hughes left the game with an injury.

After Huntley’s third-down pass to tight end Mark Andrews was broken up by a big hit from Falcons safety Xavier Watts with 6:28 remaining, the Ravens were forced to punt.
