A big sister came to the rescue in Texas when her brother suddenly started choking while they were playing on a trampoline.

The siblings were jumping on a backyard trampoline when the young boy abruptly stopped, clutched his chest and began to choke.

Lia, 10, bounced beside her 7-year-old brother Logan as they played a daring game that involved swallowing a piece of sour candy before each bounce.

As Logan began choking on the candy, Lia immediately patted his back and performed abdominal thrusts.

The candy flew from his throat just in time, with Logan still on the trampoline platform.

The video was shared by local police, who said the young girl had learned the life-saving technique from a babysitting guide and her mother.

‘It was a hard watch,’ their mother, Heather James, told NBC News

‘As much as it hurts my heart to watch, I’m just so proud of her.’

Heather is a member of the Lavon Police Department’s special program’s division which teaches course including one on the importance of choking rescue techniques.

‘I’m so proud of my kid,’ she said.

Their mother was in the kitchen when the terrifying moment unfolded, and Lia quickly rushed in to recount what had happened.

Heather said her son has ‘swore he will never be on the trampoline with a piece of candy again.’
