Media personality Serwaa Amihere has mourned the passing of highlife legend and longtime friend Daddy Lumba, describing him as “a legend and an icon in every sense of the word.”

Speaking to GhanaWeb during the one-week celebration of Daddy Lumba at Black Star Square on August 30, 2025, Amihere fondly recalled her personal memories with the iconic musician, highlighting his kindness, wisdom, and the deep love he shared with her and her family.

“It’s a very sad day for all of us. As you can see, everyone is gathered here, saddened by the passing of Daddy Lumba. He was an icon, a legend through and through. I will miss him. I know Ghanaians will miss him. His family will miss him. We all will miss him. I remember Daddy Lumba for all the love he showed me and the advice he gave me. He gave me a lot of advice. He loved me, along with his family and wife, and it felt very genuine,” she said.

She further expressed her hope that emerging talents and musicians will continue the legacy Daddy Lumba left behind. She noted that she has yet to see anyone match the heights and achievements he reached in his career.

“To encourage all of us, I’ve said it’s painful, but we should celebrate all the good music he gave us over the years. I’m still waiting to see another Daddy Lumba. I haven’t seen anyone yet. I don’t know if we’ll ever get another Daddy Lumba. Not to say there aren’t good musicians, of course, there are amazing, excellent musicians, but I’m just hoping we get someone as good as Daddy Lumba,” she added.

While acknowledging the pain of his loss, she also urged the public to focus on celebrating the legendary music Daddy Lumba left behind.
