Hiplife artiste Kwaw Kese has announced plans to go into poultry farming, expressing interest in joining the government’s Nkokor Nketenkete initiative.

In an interview on Hitz FM, the rapper said his move is part of an effort to grow business ventures beyond music.

He explained that the music industry alone does not provide steady income, which has pushed him to explore other sources of livelihood.

“I do maize and cassava farming. I am ready to jump into the ‘nkokor nketenkete’ to start a poultry farm, so the government can help me,” he said.

Kwaw Kese, who also owns an automobile business and an eatery, believes that diversification is key for artistes in Ghana who want to stay financially stable.

The Nkokor Nketenkete project, which falls under the government’s Feed Ghana programme, is an initiative designed to revive the Ghana’s poultry industry.

It seeks to increase domestic production of chicken and eggs to reduce the Ghana’s dependence on imports.

The programme is expected to support about 55,000 households with day-old chicks, cages, feed, vaccines and other inputs needed to start small and medium-scale poultry farms.

Participants will also receive technical training and guidance from agricultural officers.

A pilot phase will begin in selected districts, including 12 in the Northern Region, before the project expands to other parts of the country.
