Ghanaian entrepreneur and social media personality, Aba Dope, has disclosed that she has no desire to get married, citing a painful experience from her past as the turning point.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on November 14, 2025, Aba Dope said that although marriage is beautiful, she is not willing to pursue it.

“I don’t want to get married. I don’t have time for marriage. I feel getting married is a beautiful thing, but I wouldn’t just do it,” she said.

When asked when she decided she was no longer interested in marriage, Aba Dope explained that her decision stems from an incident that happened shortly after completing senior high school.

“After S.H.S. when the man I was dating then betrayed me. I started dating him when I was in school and the relationship was serious to the extent that he introduced me to his mother,” she shared.

She recounted how his mother would ask her to perform tasks such as fetching water with a large pan and grinding pepper, which she took as a sign of love and acceptance into the family.

“His mother made me use a big pan to fetch water for her and grind pepper but I thought she had accepted me to be part of the family. I thought she actually loved me so I didn’t know what I was doing for her was a punishment,” she stated.

However, Aba Dope disclosed that things took a shocking turn.

“One day, the guy came to tell me he had gotten his visa, so he’s travelling to China. Not knowing that he was going to get married to another woman and his parents were also aware,” she noted.

Aba Dope added that since that incident, she has never regained the desire to pursue marriage.

“I felt used and betrayed. This experience made me lose interest in marriage,” she added.
