King Paluta has vehemently denied having any affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), despite his close ties with the party’s leadership and his frequent performances at their rallies throughout the campaign period.

The strong bond between the musician and the party members, as well as his consistent involvement in their campaign, led many netizens to speculate that there was more to his relationship with the NPP than just a business arrangement.

He was influential during the NPP’s campaign such that, following the party’s loss, members of the newly elected NDC government mocked the party, saying all they did was dance to “Sesi Fia” songs, a reference to King Paluta’s popular hit, “Makoma.”

However, despite public perceptions, King Paluta has strongly denied any political allegiance to the NPP.

In an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso, also known as Delay, he clarified that he only accepted an invitation from Vice President Bawumia to perform at their rallies and could not have turned it down.

“I am not an NPP member. I don’t carry a party card; it’s a Ghana Card I’ve got. I was invited, and I had to honour it. It was the Vice President who invited me, not the NPP. I was just giving respect to whom respect is due,” he stated on The Delay Show.

Recounting the origin of the speculation, King Paluta recalled the viral photos of him with Vice President Bawumia, Chairman Wontumi, Sarah Adwoa Safo, and others aboard a plane.

“What started the speculations was when I was captured on a plane with the Vice President and some NPP members,” he said.

King Paluta further emphasised that there is nothing wrong with associating with politicians, adding that it has always been part of his aspirations.

“Growing up in my career, when I used to listen to and watch the likes of Tupac, I noticed how they rolled and fraternized with some officials. I even wrote in my old songs that I one day want to ride in big cars and meet officials. So it’s something I’ve always wanted,” he added.
