Ghanaian entrepreneur and social media personality Aba Dope has disclosed that she has grown emotionally detached from romantic gestures, despite once craving them deeply.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on December 8, 2025, she opened up about her past experiences with relationships, loneliness, and the pressure to appear loved on social media.

Aba Dope explained that her lack of interest in romance partly stems from her busy lifestyle and the overwhelming behaviour of some men.

“Some men are too clingy. They want to be all over you and ask you to sit on their lap, but I always get home tired,” she said.

She also mentioned that she once staged Valentine’s Day surprises to avoid feeling left out when her peers flaunted gifts online.

“Years ago on Snapchat, I saw my friends receiving gifts on Val’s Day. They would post and show off the flowers and gift boxes their partners bought for them. I didn’t have anyone who would gift me so I used to fake it,” she shared.

Aba Dope narrated how she paid her younger brother to purchase items, had them wrapped at a gift shop, and then filmed the packages as if they were from a romantic partner.

“I would give money to my little brother to buy the gifts, take it to a gift shop for them to wrap it nicely and when he brings it, I take videos of it and post on Snapchat to make it look like I got them from my man,” she noted.

She explained that as she worked hard to become financially independent, the need for romantic validation faded.

“Because I wasn’t pampered in that manner in my past, now that I’ve tried harder to be that woman who can afford anything I want in life, I’m no longer impressed by things like that. I’m no longer moved by romantic stuff,” she added.
