Kumawood actor cum musician Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has expressed frustration over the lack of recognition for his musical talents, stating that it is about time he blew his own trumpet.
In an interview with Papadat on Lawson FM, LilWin confidently declared that he is a musical gem, lamenting that industry players have sidelined him despite his efforts and achievements.
“I’m doing extremely well as a musician, but sadly, the industry keeps trying so hard to ignore me,” LilWin said, emphasising his contributions to the entertainment scene beyond his acting career.
The versatile entertainer didn’t shy away from touting himself as a great performer.
According to him, it’s impossible to mention five Ghanaian musicians who excel on stage without including his name.
LilWin also attributed his inability to win awards, particularly at the prestigious TGMAs, to favoritism in the industry.
He described the awards system as one driven by a “who-you-know” culture rather than merit.
“Instead of awarding entertainers who truly deserve it, the organizers prioritize those they know. That’s the problem with our industry,” he remarked.
