Ami Shikah sat down with host Asieduwaa Akomeah to explore essential yet often overlooked aspects of marital intimacy.

The discussion aired during the Prime Morning segment on Joy Prime, where the certified sex coach shared valuable insights into improving relationships and enhancing sex lives.

She also debunked common misconceptions while offering practical advice to couples.

“I know a lot of couples are getting it wrong when it comes to their sex lives,” Ami began, highlighting the prevalent issue of focusing excessively on penetration.

“A lot of men think that’s all sex is about. It’s not entirely their fault, as most people didn’t receive comprehensive sex education. Many believe that sex is simply about penetration,” she explained.

Ami noted that this misconception often leads to rushed intimacy, with little attention given to the preparation and emotional connection needed before penetration.

“For some women, sex is reduced to lying down and opening their legs, but that’s not how it should be,” she pointed out. “Sex is a journey, and there should be a beginning before you even get to the point of penetration.”

She emphasized the importance of ensuring the woman is mentally and physically prepared, adding that a lack of relaxation or readiness can significantly hinder the experience.

“If you’ve had a fight or there’s unresolved tension, she might not be mentally prepared, and that’s okay,” Ami said. “But that can make the experience one-sided because she might not feel ready, and sometimes men think they’re entitled to sex just because they’re married.”
