The Head Pastor of the Liberty Assemblies of God Church in Kumasi, Reverend John Kofi Bosomtwe, has urged his congregation to balance their pursuit of success with proper rest.
He has cautioned that neglecting their health in the name of ambition could cut their lives short.
Why an Assemblies of God pastor is cautioning against loud prayers
In a sermon that has gone viral on social media, the pastor explained that it is important for people to pause and take care of themselves instead of overworking to the point of exhaustion.
The pastor likened the consequences of relentless hustling without rest to the way funerals are announced in churches on Fridays, noting that life is not only about achieving ambitions but also about staying alive to enjoy them.
“Take a moment to relax because the world is a beautiful place. Don’t let your struggles and ambitions overwhelm you. Achieving your dreams takes time, it won’t happen overnight; it’s important to get enough rest. Work diligently, but also know when to take a break and sleep. If you don’t prioritize rest, you will be laid to rest. So, make sure you take care of yourself and recharge, or others will be left to mourn your loss,” he told the congregation.
The pastor recently addressed the issue of noise pollution caused by some Christians during late-night prayers.
He warned his members that disturbing others with excessive noise is not a sign of spirituality but rather a violation of the peace of those around them.
“If I hear that, as a member of Liberty, you disturb the people you live with through loud prayers, I will support your landlord to evict you. If your landlord reports to me, I will assist him in evicting you. Wisdom should tell you not to disturb people at night,” he cautioned.
“If you don’t put yourself to rest, you’ll be laid to rest”
