Veteran voice actor George Lowe has died at the age of 67.
The actor and comedian is most widely known as the voice behind Space Ghost, on the animated series Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
In a post to Facebook, longtime friend and broadcaster Marvin Boone revealed that Lowe had died from a long illness.
He said: ‘I’m beyond devastated. My Zobanian brother and best friend for over 40 years, George Lowe, has passed away after a long illness.
‘A part of me had also died. He was a supremely talented Artist and Voice actor. A true warm hearted Genius. Funniest man on Earth too.
‘I’ve stolen jokes from him for decades. He stole some of mine. He was also the voice of Space Ghost and so much more. Pweeloto.’

Lowe had started his career in the 1980s with occasional voice work before landing the titular character role in the famed Cartoon Network series.
He would later go on to voice Space Ghost in spinoffs ‘Cartoon Planet’ and appeared as the character in ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’.
Rapper and fellow voice actor MC Chris, who appeared in Aqua Teen Hunger Force, also posted a tribute to Lowe.
He said: ‘So bummed to report we lost George Lowe. Rest in peace my hero. He is the epicenter of infinite universes and will be missed greatly.’
His Space Ghost Coast to Coast co-star Andy Merrill shared an article on the passing of Lowe to his X profile, writing: ‘I’m sorry to share this, everyone.’
In July 2023 the rapper had shared a post to his own X profile saying that Lowe’s absence from social media had been due to him suffering health problems.
According to Chris, he had an aortic dissection that had required him to be intubated, and also had a nurse caring for him in his Florida home.
The Florida native got his first radio job at the age of 15 before landing the voice of Space Ghost.

The show, a parody of talk shows that featured live celebrity guests, ran from 1994 to 1999.
It was later revived in 2001 and aired on Adult Swim’s late night programming until 2004.
On Tuesday, Adult Swim posted a picture of Lowe to their socials saying: ‘RIP George Lowe’, sharing a quote from his character.
Speaking with Fox 13 in 2022 from his Florida home, he said he based his range of voices around people he meets in real life.
Lowe said: ‘If I am somewhere like New York, and hear a great voice, I find myself later in the day trying to do that because New York is such a Pu Pu platter of sound.’
He also joked that doing this was ‘a real sickness’, adding that he ‘ought to be in a program’.
Since his passing was announced on Tuesday, fans have paid tribute to Lowe on social media.
One person posted: ‘RIP George Lowe. He was insanely funny and my favorite talk show host. No one could deliver a line like him.
‘You can’t really overstate the impact of Space Ghost. Without it there’d be no Adult Swim, no Aqua Teen, no Tim & Eric. The show should have ran for 30 years.’
Another said: ‘RIP George Lowe, the inimitable voice of Space Ghost.
‘Space Ghost Coast-To-Coast had an enormous influence on me and my sense of humor as a kid (and beyond). Without him, Adult Swim never happens.’
