Newly appointed Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed confidence in leading the club to a major silverware before the end of his tenure.
After parting ways with Accra Lions, Tanko was officially unveiled as the head coach of the 2023 Ghana Premier League champions on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
In a statement following his unveiling, Tanko emphasized the club’s commitment to continuous improvement and success, assuring fans that trophies will be won under his leadership.
“That’s the nature of the sport we are in. We are always going to be better. The success is there, like I said before, and I’m here to achieve something. So definitely, before the end of my tenure, I’m sure cups will be won,” Tanko said.
After Medeama’s historic Ghana Premier League triumph in 2023, the Mauve and Yellows suffered a decline, finishing 8th in the 2024 season.
As a result, the former Black Stars assistant coach is tasked with restoring the club’s competitive edge.
His experience at both club and international levels has raised hopes among supporters that Medeama can add more trophies to their cabinet.
Currently, Medeama sit 7th in the Ghana Premier League standings, having amassed 26 points after 18 games. Tanko’s first test will be a league clash against Legon Cities at the TNA Stadium.
