Medeama SC coach Ibrahim Arnyas Tanko says he will remain fully focused despite moving closer to winning the Ghana Premier League title.
The Mauve and Yellows could officially be crowned champions this weekend if they defeat Heart of Lions in Tarkwa. Medeama currently sit top of the table with 59 points, five ahead of second-placed Bibiani GoldStars with two matches left in the season.
Speaking ahead of the crucial encounter, Tanko stressed that the team cannot afford to relax until the title is mathematically secured.
The experienced gaffer also revealed the technical team has been working closely with the players to help them deal with the pressure surrounding the title race.
“We have to go till the end to be sure that we have won the league, so definitely, we are going to take the rest of the games seriously,” he said.
“We are all managing it very well because we have to be talking to them — the players — always, especially in this game,” Tanko added.
According to the former Ghana assistant coach, communication and mental preparation have been key as the club edges closer to another league triumph.
“We had to have a lot of conversations with them because of the pressure, but I think they did very well,” he concluded.
Medeama are chasing what would be their second Ghana Premier League title in almost four years. The decisive clash against Heart of Lions is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, at the TNA Stadium at 15:00GMT (3:00pm), with DopeNation also set to perform live before the game.
