Former world challenger IBF#11 Masanori Rikiishi (17-2, 12 KOs), 132.5, finally caught up with Filipino wild swinger Lito Badenas (8-3, 7 KOs), 130.5, and impressively sank him with vicious body shots at 3:09 of the eighth and last round on Monday in Tokyo, Japan. Having lost to Eduardo Nuñez on points in the IBF vacant title bout last May, the 5’10” Japanese southpaw outpunched the game Filipino, steadily piling up points.
In his literally last-minute surge Rikiishi displayed heavy body bombardments in sending Badenas to the deck for the count. He finely proved his power in his comeback appearance. Rikiishi is the younger brother of current IBF flyweight champ Masamichi Yabuki.
