Efia Odo says she understands the position of Ernestina Fosu (R) Efia Odo says she understands the position of Ernestina Fosu (R)

Ghanaian media personality Efia Odo has publicly defended Ernestina Fosu, the sister of the late music legend Daddy Lumba, for speaking out about the circumstances surrounding his death and the disputed funeral arrangements.

Speaking on United Showbiz on November 1, 2025, Efia Odo said Ernestina’s actions were understandable since she had expressed concerns surrounding her brother’s death.

She said these concerns, according to Ernestina, were not being addressed.

“Whatever she said, she said it from an emotional space. We are not in the same situation as her, so it is easy to give any opinion we want. But for the situation she’s in, this is her blood. Her family. We should all have an open mind and listen to this woman to understand why she said what she did.

“If I were in her shoes, I would have done the same. I am a human being. So, if my brother is dead and I don’t know how he died and the family head is not giving me any information, I have to take it to the next level,” Efia Odo said.

Efia also lamented what she sees as damage to the late musician’s legacy, stating, “It is just unfortunate that his legacy is being ruined. Prior to his death, we enjoyed his music without knowing much about his personal life. Now, we are seeing all this.”

Her comments come following an incident where Ernestina invoked an “Otumfuo Ntam Kese,” a traditional oath, against the Abusuapanin at the premises of the Kumasi High Court on October 31, 2025.

According to reports, the disagreement stems from how the family head has handled issues surrounding Lumba’s death, funeral planning, and communication with relatives.

Ernestina Fosu accused Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu of making decisions without involving her and other close family members.

She has also questioned the circumstances of her brother’s passing, insisting that the family provide proof of what caused her brother’s death before the funeral proceeds.

In an interview on UTV, Tepamanhene, Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem II, disclosed that the late Daddy Lumba’s funeral cannot proceed on December 6, 2025, as announced, until the family meets with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

He stated that the final burial rite of the late musician can only proceed after a customary hearing regarding the musician’s sister, Ernestina Fosu, invoking the Otumfuo’s Great Vow, Ntam Kese.

Ghana lost one of its most cherished musical legends, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
