Arsenal and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey

Arsenal and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has revealed that he would have been a painter if he hadn’t pursued a career in football.

The midfielder started training to become a painter but left the craft prematurely to follow his football dreams.

According to the former Atletico Madrid player, his father had sent him to learn the trade because he was talented at it.

“Maybe I would be a painter,” he told The Footy Culture during a quick-fire Q&A session. “I used to be good at it, but now I don’t know,” he added.

“I remember one day my father took me to a painting shop to start painting, but I went there once, and the rest of it was on the field.”

However, he declined to say whether he would ever return to art despite his passion for it.

Partey’s campaign with Arsenal suffered a setback last night after the Gunners were eliminated in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.
