Ghanaian international model Rodney Osei has firmly established that he would not work with any Ghanaian brand if he is not paid well.
In an interview with GhanaWeb‘s Joseph Henry Mensah on June 30, 2025, Rodney Osei who modelled in the just-ended 2025 Paris Fashion Week noted that most Ghanaian brands do not pay models what they deserve.
“To be honest if it comes to fashion in the Ghanaian brands, I do not really know much of them. But if they are ready to pay the rate I am going to do it because that is all matters. In Europe, we don’t do anything fully for the clout. I don’t do magazines because they don’t pay.
“But if it’s a friend’s brand I am not going to charge him. It all bores down to the relationship with the person… In Europe anytime they put a picture of you on a website they pay you… You’re an image and if you are a selling point of something you have to make money out of it,” he said.
Rodney Osei also pointed out that modelling isn’t as financially rewarding as people often assume.
“It can be really lucrative but the same time like a regular 9 to 5 job. With modelling you can make crazy money in a month and no money in three to four months. And you have to feed off what you have saved. But if you have a side job that is paying your bills then it is good,” he added.
