Renowned Ghanaian music producer Appietus has stated that he will not attend the funeral of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba due to the ongoing dispute surrounding the ceremony.

In an interview on Aluta FM on December 9, 2025, he explained that his decision stems from the fact that members of Lumba’s family are even currently at loggerheads.

According to him, with two different burial ceremonies scheduled by the late musician’s immediate family, attending either of them could be misinterpreted, so he prefers to stay home and mourn privately.

‘My mother started believing in me when Daddy Lumba visited me’ – Appietus

“Why can’t the family sit down and choose a date? Right now, assuming a fight happens at the burial ceremony, who is to be blamed? Is that what we are looking for? I can’t attend the funeral because there are two dates, and since I can’t divide myself into two,” he said.

Appietus added that tensions are high and chaos could erupt at the ceremony, which is scheduled for Saturday, December 13.

“Right now, tempers are high, so there is a higher chance that a fight can happen at the funeral. People can hire thugs to cause a fight there.

“And if I go to the funeral ceremony scheduled for December 13, 2025, people will think I am supporting one side of the family, when that may not be my intention,” he added.
