Rev Osei Kofi is a legendary Ghanaian footballer

Legendary Black Stars player Reverend Osei Kofi has bemoaned how Ghana will honor his legacy, considering his sacrifices and feats for the country.

He cited how Spanish giants Real Madrid took a bold step to honor their legendary player Alfredo Di Stéfano by naming one of their stadiums after him for global recognition as an example.

The former Asante Kotoko player asserted that he would be grateful if a similar approach were adopted to glorify the works of ex-footballers who excelled for the Black Stars to win trophies.

“Real Madrid honored me with a match at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium. They made me feel like a legend. I asked myself, ‘When will I be honored with a stadium in Ghana when I saw the Di Stéfano Stadium?'” he said during an interview with Sporty FM on April 2, 2025.

Rev Osei recently traveled to Spain and was honored by Real Madrid as one of the legendary African players.

He played an integral role when the Black Stars won the 1982 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final by defeating Libya 7-6 on penalties.
