Former General Manager of Nsoatreman FC, Eric Alagidede, has expressed strong support for Eddie Nketiah’s decision to commit to the Black Stars, stating he would choose the former Arsenal striker over Inaki Williams without hesitation.
His comments come in the wake of Nketiah’s dramatic U-turn, finally confirming his availability for Ghana after years of speculation and indecision.
The 25-year-old, born to Ghanaian parents in London, had previously delayed committing to the national team as he weighed his options between England and Ghana.
Reacting to the viral video on Sporty FM, Alagidede shared that if the video of Nketiah’s commitment is recent and genuine, Ghana should move quickly to secure him, as he offers greater quality and finishing ability than Inaki Williams.
“Let’s pick him, we need him. I’ll pick Eddie Nketiah any day over Inaki Williams. Proper striker, proper number 9, he’s young and there’s the future. The chances we create for Inaki Williams and he’s not scoring, Nketiah will put all those balls at the back of the net,” he said.
Despite Nketiah’s recent comments, the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has confirmed that the association have not received any formal approach or communication from him, suggesting that talk of his availability may be premature or unofficial at this stage.
