A Ghanaian resident in Reading, United Kingdom, Dr Ntakra Ohene, has shared a deeply emotional account of his ongoing cancer battle in an exclusive interview with blogger ZionFelix.

According to Dr. Ohene, his ordeal began when he discovered unusual lumps around his neck while taking a shower.

Initially dismissing it as a minor health concern, further medical checks revealed the devastating news that he was suffering from high-grade Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a severe form of cancer.

Recounting his consultation with a haematologist, Dr. Ohene revealed that he was presented with two heartbreaking options.

The first was to undergo chemotherapy, which came with the possibility of infertility, low sperm count, and the risk of permanent sexual dysfunction.

The second option, refusing treatment, meant waiting patiently for death.

The father of four admitted that the diagnosis took a heavy toll on him. “When I got home after hearing the doctor’s words, I drank heavily and went to bed,” he said.

However, after reflecting and speaking with his children the following day, he resolved to undergo chemotherapy to fight for his life.

Sharing a chilling moment from his first day of treatment, Dr. Ohene recalled how a woman seated beside him in the hospital tragically died before receiving her therapy.

Despite the challenges, Dr. Ohene continues to battle the illness with courage, drawing strength from his family and faith.

His story has since touched many Ghanaians online, who have praised him for his resilience and honesty in sharing his journey.
