An Irish tourist, Seon, has disclosed that he was astonished to see global corporations like Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and Starbucks branches in Ghana.

According to him, he had always perceived Africa as a rural part of the world where such big corporations would not operate until he decided to tour Ghana and other countries on the continent.

“I always perceived Africa as a particularly rural part of the world. But as I walked through Accra, it was more similar to what I would expect back home. I saw big corporations that we’re used to in the Western world. Simple things like seeing KFC and Starbucks were a surprise to me,” he said during an interview with Vicemen TV on YouTube.

Seon also noted that he enjoyed his tour in Ghana, particularly enjoying local delicacies like banku and groundnut soup, which he liked very much.

He said that he was also impressed with the level of safety, hospitality, and cultural experience he had in Ghana and would encourage others to visit the continent in the future.

“I felt a little scared upon arrival at first, but last night I tried banku with my family, mixed with a kind of groundnut soup and beef, and it was delicious.

“What I would say to anyone who has thoughts about coming to Africa is that it’s a fantastic place to be. You meet lovely people, you’re really safe, and you get a fantastic cultural experience that you won’t get anywhere else in the world,” he added.
