Ghanaian highlife musician Akwaboah has explained why he did not hold his concert on February 14, Valentine’s Day, in 2024.

In an interview on Hitz FM on January 30, 2025, DJ Slim asked Akwaboah if his decision to not hold his concert on the ‘Vals Day’ was due to his colleague Kwabena Kwabena taking the date for his own show.

Akwaboah admitted that he was surprised when Kwabena Kwabena changed the date of his show from February 12 to February 14, a date he originally uses for his own concert.

“I was surprised because a week before the event, I knew his show was always on February 12th. So, what we usually do is I perform for him on the 12th, and he does the same for me on the 14th. A week before the event, his team called me for a performance, which I agreed to.

“Then I saw him post online that the date was the 14th. I was surprised, but we’re cool now. It’s a big world for both of us,” Akwaboah stated.

He added, “Also, I had gigs abroad that required my attention. Before then, I was looking for a bigger venue, and I secured the Grand Arena. I hoped for another large venue, but since I couldn’t find one, I decided to honour the gigs abroad,” he explained.
