CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Center (GTDC), Professor Kobby Mensah CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Center (GTDC), Professor Kobby Mensah

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Development Center (GTDC), Professor Kobby Mensah, has disclosed how surprised he was when he was appointed to the role.

Speaking in an interview with Adom FM on April 3, 2025, Prof. Mensah stated that he did not expect to be appointed to the position, as he was neither a member of the National Democratic Congress nor involved in politics.

“I was shocked when I received my appointment letter to serve as the CEO. Honestly, I won’t say I lobbied. President Mahama is the best person to answer why I was appointed as the CEO of GTDC,” he stated.

Prof. Mensah added that his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama is a testament to his confidence in his capabilities.

“People know your competence; they are watching and know whether you are good or not. So I think the president, in his goodwill, felt that even though some of us did not have a political background, we were fit for the job,” he said.

He further stated that he has embraced the opportunity to serve, adding, “When I got the call that the President, in his benevolence, thought I could help this country, I felt like, why not?”
