Guinness World Record singathon contender Afua Asantewaa has revealed that she once received a strange email from the leader of the so-called Kingdom of Kubala, a self-aclaimed African tribe recently evicted from a forest in Scotland.

In a video shared on social media, Afua recounted that she was contacted several months ago, possibly even a year back, by the group’s leader, who introduced himself as King Atehene.

According to her, the message was full of admiration, and the self-styled king even invited her to become the queen mother of the Kubala Kingdom.

‘Man has got no power over the Kubala Kingdom’ – What King Atehene said before his arrest

“I got an email from the Kubala family, I think some months ago, if not a year, and I remember vividly that the Kubala king told me that I am a queen and I deserve to be in the Kubala kingdom. He actually said nice things to me and one of the key things he told me was to keep singing and listening to Woyaya by Osibisa. You all know it’s my favourite,” she said.

Afua Asantewaa admitted that she did not know who or what the Kubala group was.

But in recent weeks, she has come across videos of the so-called kingdom being evacuated from their camp in Jedburgh, near the England-Scotland border, which left her looking back on what could have happened if she had taken the email seriously.

“So recently I’ve been seeing videos of… I actually didn’t know who or like what group of people the Kubala whatever was and so recently I saw some videos that they are being evacuated, supposed kingdom, and it marvels me,” she explained.

Afua also noted that the email was lengthy and detailed, adding that it left her wondering whether other people also received similar invitations.

“I don’t know if they send emails to other people but it’s quite sad and reading more about the kingdom I just imagine myself in such a situation because one of the queens I’m told was living a normal life until she got to the kingdom. You know, so I would have been called a full Kubala.

“I wish I could share the email with you guys. It was very detailed and interesting to read. That’s just by the way, things we receive in our DMs from strange places only God can help us. If you are not guided and if your instinct is not that strong you end up in the Kubala kingdom,” she said.

Afua Asantewaa’s revelation comes in the wake of international headlines about the Kubala Kingdom, whose members were removed from council-owned woodland in Scotland after months of occupying the site.

Videos shared online showed police and immigration officials dismantling their camp while some of the group’s members were taken away.

The Kubala members had earlier claimed they were reclaiming ancestral land stolen centuries ago and refused to recognise the authority of the Scottish courts.

Amidst news of their eviction, Afua Asantewaa of the GWR Singathon fame has recounted receiving an E-mail from the self styled leader of the Kubala kingdom, King Atehene some months earlier, where he expressed a deep admiration for her and extended an invitation to her to join… pic.twitter.com/MrlSoXobaZ
