Ace Ghanaian actress Akofa Edjeani has spoken for the first time about the controversies surrounding the appointment of fellow actors Kafui Danku-Pitcher and James Gardiner to the Ghana Film Authority.

In an interview on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review on March 22, 2025, Akofa Edjeani stated that she is not interested in the position of Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, contrary to speculation on social media.

She explained that although she initially submitted her CV for consideration, she later changed her mind and personally informed President John Dramani Mahama to withdraw her application.

“I submitted my CV to the president, but as I said, you can’t tell the president what to do. Also, the fact that I didn’t get the position is no big deal at all. I sent a message to the president long before the appointments were made, stating that I was no longer interested.

“I made that decision after careful thought. I realized that it wasn’t something I wanted after all. I only submitted my CV due to pressure from industry players,” she said.

Akofa Edjeani also debunked claims that she is vying for Kafui Danku-Pitcher’s position.

According to her, she holds no personal grudges against the actress.

“All we need to do is support Kafui and James to succeed. You know how much I have contributed to this industry, so I believe that’s why my name was mentioned for the position.

“However, I have no problem with Kafui and James being appointed. I am not upset about their appointments,” she added.
