In 2023, rumours went riffe that Mzbel was engaged after she frequently flaunted a ring on her finger.
In past interviews, she often referred to herself as either married or engaged when questioned about her relationship status.
The ring appeared in her pregnancy photos and even during her lavish outdooring event, which went viral on social media.
However, the truth behind the ring is now out.
Speaking openly, Mzbel disclosed that she is neither married nor officially engaged.
She explained that she requested the ring from her partner during her pregnancy to avoid the disrespect typically directed at unmarried pregnant women.
“I asked my baby daddy for the ring, and he bought it for me. If I’m seen without a ring while pregnant, people will mock me and call me ‘jantra’ (prostitute). It’s annoying. But when the ring is on your finger, it silences them,” she told Empress Gifty during an interview on The U Cook Show.
Mzbel continued, “To the public, they’ll think I’m married, but when I need to explain, I’ll say I’m engaged.”
When asked if she ever wants to experience the joy and privileges of marriage, instead of just having children with men, Mzbel responded bluntly, “To religious people, marriage is important, but for someone like me, what makes me feel good and happy is falling in love. Also, I can do everything married people do, I can have sex and have children.”
She was also asked if her family knows about her relationship with the man and what their views are.
Mzbel replied, “The man hasn’t told my family anything, and he hasn’t performed any rites with them. When you’re rich and successful, your family will just follow whatever you do. So, you have to always work hard to create the happiness you want.”
On whether the man’s family knows her, Mzbel said she doesn’t want them to know she is the mother of their son’s child.
“I don’t think his family knows me, and I don’t even want them to. They’re Christians, and they’ll keep pestering me. They like me, but they don’t know I’m a part of their family. They know me, but they don’t know I’m the mother of their son’s child,” Mzbel stated.
