Ghanaian socialite and singer, Sister Derby

Ghanaian socialite and singer, Sister Derby, has shared her challenges in finding employment after earning her master’s degree in the United Kingdom.

In a discussion on the Big Conversation on 3 Music TV, the “Kakalila Love” hitmaker revealed that after losing her £700 internship, she struggled to secure a job despite submitting numerous applications.

“I applied for so many jobs, but I couldn’t get one. So, I spoke to one of my professors and she told me that due to the recession in the UK, they are employing citizens before other nationalities.

“I went to so many job interviews in big publishing companies but I wasn’t called… I registered with a lot of different agencies for jobs but I wasn’t called too, so I decided to come back to Ghana,” she said.

Sister Derby said she attended several job interviews with major publishing companies but did not receive any offers.

She also registered with multiple job agencies without success, leading her to make the difficult decision to return to Ghana.

“When I decided to return to Ghana and look for a job here, I happened to be on the last Ghana Airwaves flight I think somewhere in January 2010,” she disclosed.
