Talking about domestic violence with media personality, Doyin David of the @doyinscorner podcast show, a Nigerian man shares how he survived abuse from his wife.

Recounting what led to his failed marriage, the man reveals how his wife who is quite religious, beats him up to a stupor every time an argument or misunderstanding ensues between them.

He mentioned being reluctant to leave the marriage in consideration of the children they’ve had and his love for her. He also shares how she begs him for forgiveness after each abuse episode which he would forgive.

What however broke the camel’s back was the cheating she added to the list of atrocities. The man discovered his wife was sleeping with two of her pastors and he just couldn’t take it any longer.

Netizens in reaction to this revelation advocate giving men the grace to publicly share their stories of marital abuse without ridicule. Read on:

amtooocute:Many women find this funny, but if the roles were reversed, they wouldn’t find it amusing at all. Can we stop avoiding the truth and acknowledge that men can be victims of domestic violence too? How is this even funny?

dj_staffy: So many men are really going through this thing. But of course, the society will always tell them to be a man and don’t talk. It is well
